The Timber Cove Residence is a new 4,250 square foot house located on a 3.3-acre bluff-top site surrounded by a grove of mature pine trees on the Sonoma County coastline.

Planning entitlements involved complex approvals including issues relative to bluff-top stability, merging two parcels, private road access, costal commission, neighborhood association and interpretation of the planning code to allow for building height and setback variances.

The design of the house takes full advantage of the 180 degree unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean especially the spectacular whitewater vistas to the south and southeast. It has a simple, modern plan of rooms that flow easily between each other to exterior spaces. Oversized sliding doors and windows enhance views and spatial connections throughout. The house is sensitively sited to provide minimum impact on both the site and its adjacent neighbors. All existing large pine trees and were retained. New landscape will enhance the existing natural habitat adding life, color and natural wind protection to the barren coastlands typical of the area.

Construction was completed June 2004.
