Community Center

Completed 1990

The Ken Edwards Center for Community Services houses a complex program including two independent senior service agencies, a city-sponsored senior lunch program, and a community conference center. The design of the building reflects an extensive collaborative process involving the city, tenants, immediate neighbors, and the greater community. Particular attention was paid to the creation of a non-institutional setting for community service activities and providing a clear and comprehensible organization that facilitated easy use by seniors and the physically disabled.

Built for the City of Santa Monica, the Ken Edwards Center comprises 25,000-sq. ft. and 2-1/2 levels of underground parking and was completed in 1990.

The Ken Edwards Center was honored as a Beautification Award Finalist by the Los Angeles Business Council in 1991.
