Oakwood School, is a K-12 elementary school
founded by parents in 1951. While comfortable and familiar, the Board
of Trustrees recognized the school buildings age and size would
more and more seriously limit the schools ability to deliver the
finest education programs.
KEA provided programming and master-planning services including teacher,
parent and community workshops. Together with the various committees,
a masterplan has been developed that addresses the schools future
needs while maintaining the informality, warmth and scale of the existing
school.
The masterplan calls for phased replacement of the entire school campus
while maintaining the current enrollment. 50,000 sq.ft. of classrooms,
adminis-tration, library, lecture hall, and gym/multipurpose room are
provided in two levels above subterranean parking.
Construction is underway on the Phase 1 Gymnasium/Multi-Purpose Building for a cost of $6,000,000.
