Completed August 2002
This
project is located on the backside of the Edgemar retail complex along
Main Street in Santa Monica. A series of large industrial steel windows
was inserted along with ample skylights to give balanced daylighting
to the interior.
The former dairy building made of brick and wood bowstring trusses was
stripped down to its structure with the intent of maximizing its spatial
volume and carefully inserting the core of living amenities. Each of
the two 1200 s.f. lofts has a ground floor live/work and kitchen space.
The upstairs mezzanine provides a flexible sleeping/office space that
overlooks the ground floor. At one end, a glass tiled wet
wall features a sink and shower head.
