Completed 1987
The Hollywood Duplex consists of two separate 1800 square foot units
set into a triangular hillside site. Appearing as twin towers, each
unit provides working and living spaces above a garage. Services - kitchens
and baths - are housed behind in smaller, barrel-vaulted buildings joined
to the towers by transparent staircase enclosures. The separation of
the units creates outdoor spaces for public entrances and private patios
and allows the natural landscape to cascade down to the street. The
duplex units are 1,800-sq. ft. each and garages are excavated into the
hill.
