The Near Westside Initiative (NWSI) has been working to increase economic opportunity and improve neighborhood quality in a historically under-served community in Syracuse, NY. The redevelopment of the Case Supply Warehouse provides the neighborhood momentum for further revitalization.

The masterplan for the 150,000 sf warehouse, developed by Koning Eizenberg Architecture in association with King + King Architects, worked with anchor stakeholders WCNY public broadcasting and ProLiteracy. Both organizations brought community-based activities (an educational center and literacy programs) to the vacant site. The masterplan highlights these activities while also structuring opportunity for future phases that would include commercial space and housing. Feasibility analysis included historic preservation research and structural and hazardous material assessments.
