PLAZA GATEWAY
This historic 1930s Farmers Market was well-loved but
fading in 1998 when plans to build an adjacent shopping center
(The Grove) set in motion a masterplan for the under-utilized
site. The plan revived the market as a 21st century landmark and
shopping destination.

The Masterplan and subsequent site work facilitates pedestrian traffic between the two developments while providing easy surface parking for market patrons. New Retail wraps the historic market and includes new large retail spaces, service space and relocated clock tower. The tower anchors a new popular patio, featuring KEA designed furniture. Invisible mending integrates small additions, with a myriad of adjustments to existing features to reinforce the Market’s authentic utilitarian personality. Additionally, the 100,000 sf North Market adds a new mixed-use building with ground level retail and upper floor offices over an underground parking garage.
