BUILDING MASSING
This internationally renowned research program currently
houses visiting scholars in dispersed, off-campus
rentals. Bringing scholars and their families together in a
casual, collegial residential setting creates increased
opportunity for collaboration.

The design for the 55 unit residence was developed through an interactive process with the University and Institute faculty. Apartments are arranged with living rooms oriented toward a large shared outdoor space surrounding a glass enclosed Commons. This configuration maximizes opportunity for both informal interaction and participation in community activities. New planting and open space enhance the adjacent bike path and wetlands, strengthening connections to the regional landscape and improving water management.
