CONCEPT PLANS
EXISTING CASE SUPPLY WAREHOUSE
WCNY wanted to reinforce their on-air identity with a physical community presence. Incorporating television and radio broadcasting studios, as well as an educational center and a public courtyard, WCNY strengthens neighborhood in a redeveloping urban core.

The WCNY Broadcast Center is one anchor tenant in the adaptive re-use of the Case Supply Warehouse, a masterplan developed by Koning Eizenberg Architecture in association with King + King Architects to revitalize Syracuse’s underserved Near Westside neighborhood. Working under very aggressive budget constraints and using historic tax credits the design blends renovation and new construction, turning the necessary removal of the small span warehouse space into an opportunity to create open courtyards and improve views across the site. The mix of broadcast and educational uses required careful organization of access and circulation to ensure security for all program components.
